Mexico Feb 2023 Trip Report: Coyoacán, Mexico City, Part 2, John the Baptist church and Casa de Cultura Jesus Reyes Heroles

After the crafts bazaar we strolled on that street and ate some churros and ice cream from a crowded shop  which looked swanky.

John the Baptist church again

when we were here earlier, a mass was on, now the church was empty and open.

we strolled through the neighborhood

Plaza de la Conchita

The Chapel of the Immaculate Conception "La Conchita"

When the Spanish conquistador Hernan Cortes arrived in Coyoacán he built the Church of "Conchita" on what once was a pre-Hispanic ceremonial center where the first mass was held in the region. On many occasions the Church of La Conchita has been remodeled, and  is closed for restoration work.

Iglesia de Santa Catarina, 16th century church

Casa de Cultura Jesus Reyes Heroles
