Pony riders on the trail...
LEIGH LAKE
ATTEMPT TO DRIVE INTO YNP
Temperature was in mid fifties. We thought there is a good chance of getting a clear glimpse of Grand Prismatic and even the travertine terraces of Mammoth... with not much snow.
We had finished the Leigh lake hike by 3.30, so we drove to the South entrance.
By the time we approached the South entrance, the whole atmosphere changed and South entrance road was still snowy and icy.
I felt scared and uncomfortable. I told son to turn back. It'll be foolish to attempt to go in. the microclimate has to be deferred to.
He agreed and we turned back. Instead of driving back through Teton, we drove through Moose village , then Jackson and were back to our hotel.
