Bavaria Trip Report Day 10: Munich Nymphenburg Palace

Day 10: 23 April 2019, Sunday (Easter):

NYMPHENBURG PALACE is one of the largest royal palaces. It was built in 1664. This was our destination for the day

Our hotel room at Creatif Hotel Elephant this time had more storage... another cupboard instead of a couch

Quite fine for our needs.

The palace lies in the Innenraum. Single ticket for zone 1is 2, 90e; we bought the return ticket at the tram stop.

We had to take tram 17/16 (headed to Amalienburgstrasse) every 10 min from hbf nord, 15 min, 12 stops, 700 m walk OR
bus 517(headed to Amalienburgstrasse), 20 MIN, 11 Stops, walk 700m: little south, then left on Nördliche Auffahrtsallee westward.

There was some change, the tram went up to only a certain destination and then a bus took us forward. We were able to make out the change and reached the palace.

Combination ticket "Nymphenburg"1 April-15 October is 11.50 euros. 9-6

With this ticket we can visit the palace, the Marstallmuseum(carriages and sleighs) including the Museum of Nymphenburg Porcelain and the park palaces (Amalienburg, Badenburg, Pagodenburg, Magdalenenklause).

We bought the tickets, put our bags, jacket in the locker. The lady mistakenly advised us that the palace is cold and asked us to keep our jacket... not at all necessary. Without understanding the layout we ended up carrying our hat, sun glasses, jacket etc... bit of a bother!

We went to the Marstallmuseum(carriages and sleighs) next. It was quite musty, and my existing cough felt much worse. The carriages were pretty though

 Museum of Nymphenburg Porcelain:

Museum of Nymphenburg Porcelain was next.

It was AWESOME!

Note the lid and the handles...

 These are paintings on porcelain....

Some quotes/poetry instead of paintings for a change...

This is a section on riding accessories...

Note the grill work on the border,,,

We collected our stuff and walked in the huge gardens

Nice statues and water bodies

We then walked to Amalienburg... original baroque

I was having a bad cold and was exhausted. So we skipped the other 3 small palaces and went back to our hotel.

Bit of a regret when I think back now but the day had been GREAT. The Porcelain in particular is AMAZING!

Next day at Residenz was fabulous as well. Report is here:
