Antibes 4 nights, Lagrange ApartHôtel Antibes Olympie

Scenic walk to the Picasso Museum

Drive Avignon to Antibes

we drove 232 km, 2 1/2 h, along the  highway

Côte d'Azur, the French Riviera

The seashore that extends from St-Tropez to the French-Italian border [or Toulon to Menton] is one of the world's great seaside destinations, the sun shines on the silver-blue, sparkling Mediterranean., the palaces are splendid and the beaches superb, the water is stunningly blue and the coast  bathed in sunshine. Perched on the hills behind the coast, the villages are picturesque.

We had LOVED the costa brava of Spain which we enjoyed in May and decided to spens 4 nights in the Côte d'Azur, chose Antibes as our base for 4 nights

Lagrange ApartHôtel Antibes Olympie

nice, spacious, well-appointed apartment. Reasonable priced for Cote d-Azur.
They also had an underground parking (24 hours for EUR 12). We stayed 4 nights, so we ended up paying only twice, since they have a 3 hour free parking as well.

Drive to the tower of the Picasso Museum

Of all the seaside towns of the Riviera, Antibes is probably the most instantly recognisable thanks to its
iconic skyline made up of a wonderful jumble of old buildings sitting on the high ramparts above
the sea, dominated by the tower of the Picasso Museum rising above.

We had pinned some landmarks to enjoy the coastline. Driving on the narrow windy roads was fun but there was not much parking available at scenic spots. We managed to get a street parking near the museum. Got a ticket from the machine for an hour which is free, displayed on the windshield and walked along the azure coast.

Tower of the Picasso Museum

very pretty sight.

The Musée Picasso

The Musée Picasso is the first museum dedicated to the artist. Formerly the Château Grimaldi, the stronghold was Picasso’s home and workshop in 1946 . He always felt connected to the town of Antibes so, on his departure, he left a number of his art pieces behind.

We are huge art lovers and spend whole days in museums but cubism and Picasso are not our cup of tea.

Our intention was to enjoy the views from here.

Church of the Immaculate Conception in Antibes, Cote d'Azur

there was this nice church, it was closed for some event

it had been an easy walk accomplishing our goal of enjoying the beauty of the coastline.
we walked back to our parking lot savoring the sight of the sun starting to set

cactus garden
restaurant with bull head statue

Attempt to drive to Billionaires bay

The curve of Port Vauban, the largest marina in Europe, is home to huge white superyachts while the old fort stands watch on the far side.

our GPS failed to take us to the destination, the drive was pretty though.

we drove to LIDL 1219 Chem. de Saint-Claude, 06600 Antibes, France ... 2.4 km from our apt, the drive took us through a wooded area in the suburbs, despiye our doubts, it turned out the correct route.

we stocked up, went back to the apt
